SPRING PHOTO CONTEST

Submit your Spring photos between May 13 to May 28 at noon!

All photo entries will be uploaded to our Facebook page. Voting will take place from May 28-30. The photo with the most votes or “likes” in each category will be the winner. There will also be one overall winner chosen by the Clare Recreation staff! Winners will be announced on Monday, May 31. Prizes will be $25 gift cards from local businesses!

SUMMER ACTIVE CHALLENGE

From June 1st to August 23rd, 2021

Clare Recreation’s Summer Active Challenge is back this summer over a 12-week period, starting June 1st until August 23rd, 2021! By participating, you have the chance to win prizes! This challenge serves to encourage people to be physically active for at least 30 minutes a day, for at least 5 days per week!

Weekly draws: If you have reached your weekly goal of being physically active (30+ mins for 5+ days/week), contact us by phone or email before 4pm on Tuesdays and your name will be added to the weekly draw for a chance to win a prize! The first draw will take place on Tuesday June 8th at 4pm.

Grand Prize Draw: At the end of the 12 weeks (August 24th), we will have a draw for the grand prize! Your name will be entered in the Grand Prize Draw for each week you entered your name in the weekly draw. The more you participate, the more your chances of winning the grand prize increase!

BIKE CHALLENGE

To celebrate Bike Week, Clare Recreation Services will host a Bike Challenge!

From May 29 until June 6, take a bicycle tour of Clare and take a photo at an iconic park, building, trail or beach WITH your bicycle! You do not need to be in the photo, but the bicycle must be to count as a point.

Each location = 1 point. You cannot submit the same location twice.

The challenge ends on Sunday, June 6, at 11:59 p.m. and the winners will be announced on Monday, June 7. We encourage you to post your progress and invite your friends to join the challenge as well. Good luck!

BEACH YOGA

FIRST SESSION: Tuesday, June 29
TIME: 6:30 p.m.
LOCATION: Mavillette Beach
COST: FREE!

Every other Tuesday in July and August

Meet us at the second staircase (civic #336), bring your mat and breathe in the sea air during free outdoor yoga sessions in partnership with Corbeau Yoga Studio.

In case of inclement weather, the event will be rescheduled to the next day.

MOVE MORE

The Move More program is back this Spring!

 

This program is for anyone interested in starting an exercise program and needs help getting started. 

This 6-week program (2 hours per week) will allow you to try different activities, meet friends, learn about nutrition and have fun. 

The first session will be in the council room at the municpal office on May 26, 2021 at 6:30pm. 

Please register by calling the Clare Recreation Services at 902-769-2031.

First session has been postponed until June 9th, as per public health restrictions 

SPRING BINGO

From April 19 to May 2, 2021

Complete 5 activities to have your name entered into the prize draw!

Complete all 9 activities to have your name entered twice!

For more chances to win, each photo you send of your group participating in an activity means an additional ballot!

Participants are required to send in at least one photo of your group taking part in the activity to be considered for the prize draw.

 

** For extra chances to win, each member of your family or group should have their own bingo card

Pickleball

PICKLEBALL at the Clare Veterans Center - MONDAYS & WEDNESDAYS

As of April 28, 2021: Pickleball is cancelled until further notice.

Participants will be asked to wear a mask upon entering & exiting the building, however you will be able to remove it during game play. Singles matches only, please no sharing of equipment (clean and sanitized equipment will be provided for onsite usage). Don't forget your water bottle and clean footwear!

All levels welcome!

 

Please note: You may notice that our Newsletter indicates only Monday sessions while our website indicates Mondays and Wednesdays. We only added the Wednesday sessions after the Newsletter was already printed, so there is in fact pickleball on Mondays and Wednesdays.
