The Municipality of Clare's Finance Department oversees all financial aspects of the municipality including budget preparation, monitoring and reporting, accounts payable and receivable, payroll and tax collection.

Low Income Rebate

The Clare Municipal Council will grant a $300.00 exemption on property taxes to persons whose total household income(s) for the preceding year was less than nineteen thousand ($19,000.00). You must reside in your own home.

We require a copy of your 2019 income tax notice of assessment. (Applications will not be considered without copies of all household income tax notices of assessment.)

Making a false declaration is a criminal offence.

Seniors Rebate

This program provides a 50% rebate of Residential Municipal property taxes paid for 2019, up to $800.

To be eligible you must be 65 and have received, or be eligible to receive, the Guaranteed Income Supplement (GIS) or the Allowance in 2020. Your 2019 Municipal Residential Property Taxes must be paid in full. The taxes must be in your name or include your name
