Please take notice that the Municipality of the District of Clare’s new Municipal Planning Strategy (MPS) and Land-Use By-law (LUB) were approved by the Minister of Municipal Affairs, with amendments, on September 22, 2026, and both documents officially came into effect on November 2, 2026.

The new documents update the municipality’s framework for growth and development and include policies and development regulations covering a wide range of topics, including housing, commercial development, institutional uses, industrial development, tourism, cultural planning and preservation, active transportation, social sustainability and many more.

The development of these documents occurred over a period of three years and included extensive analysis and community engagement. This culminated in a formal Public Hearing on July 15, 2026 and Council adoption on July 22, 2026.

Pursuant to Section 208 of the Municipal Government Act, the documents were reviewed by the Provincial Director of Planning and the Minister of Municipal Affairs for compliance with the Act, Statements of Provincial Interest, and regulations made thereunder. The Minister has approved both documents, with amendments.
