We can't believe the interest we have seen in our registrations for the 2024 L'esprit de la CJA day camp! There has been such great interest that our full seven-week program is already full, and we are now only accepting registrations for our waitlist. If any spots become available, we will contact the people on the waiting list in the order we received registrations. Thank you so much for signing up, we can't wait to see you outside!

This year, campers can look forward to a variety of activities, from sports and arts to surprise guest visits and adventurous outings. With a mix of full days and half days, the camp promises a balanced and fun-filled experience.

General Information: 

Location: 
Our main base will be at the CJA Yurts on the Université Sainte-Anne campus, with a fun mix of various other locations. Please make sure to double check drop-off and pickup locations.  

Camp Hours: 
Full days: 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. 
Half days: 8:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. or 12:00 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. 
Pickup times: pickup times are thirty (30) minute windows that begin at the end of the day camp. When day camp finishes at 3:30 p.m., pickup is from 3:30 until 4:00 p.m. When day camp finishes at 12:00 p.m., pickup is from 12:00 p.m. until 12:30 p.m.

What to Bring: 
Labeled gear, nut-free snacks, a reusable water bottle, a change of clothes, and comfy shoes. Electronics and valuables should be left at home. 

Behavior Guidelines: 
Emphasis on safety and inclusion. Serious misbehavior may result in immediate dismissal. Incident reports will be filled out for serious incidents and parents/guardians will be notified. 

Health Guidelines: 
Frequent handwashing, optional mask-wearing, and daily symptom checks. Sick campers should stay home until they are symptom-free.

Week 1 – Carnival Week 

This week will be filled with fun carnival games, face painting, and classic fair food. Campers will have the chance to win prizes and enjoy various carnival activities. Campers will have a visit from a local magician who will perform a magic show. One of the days we will have a mini-carnival setup at the camp with different booths and activities for the kids to enjoy. 

  • Wednesday, July 3: Full day at the Havelock Community Centre (8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.). 
  • Thursday, July 4: ½ day afternoon at Joseph-et-Marie-Dugas Park in Belliveau Cove (12:00 p.m. to 3:30 p.m.). 
  • Friday, July 5: ½ day morning at École secondaire de Clare (8:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.).  

Week 2 – Wild West Week 

Get ready for a rootin' tootin' good time! This week, campers will be transported to the Wild West with themed games and crafts, campers will get to make their own cowboy hats and badges and get to meet horses. Dress up in wild west for the week and enjoy our western theme activities. 

  • Tuesday, July 9: ½ day afternoon at the Université Sainte-Anne yurts (12:00 p.m. to 3:30 p.m.). 
  • Wednesday, July 10: full day at the Hidden Hemlocks Stables, drop-off and pickup locations to be confirmed (8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.).  
  • Thursday, July 11: ½ day morning at the Université Sainte-Anne yurts (8:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.). 

Week 3 – Oceans Week 

Dive into the deep blue sea! This week will focus on marine life and ocean conservation. We will have a day centered around arts and crafts. We will also visit the Oceanographic Environmental Research Society and learn about ocean ecosystems. Finishing the week with a beach day with sandcastle building and beach games. 

  • Tuesday, July 16: ½ day morning at the Université Sainte-Anne yurts (8:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.).  
  • Wednesday, July 17: Full day at the Oceanographic Environmental Research Society, Comeauville Marine Institute (483 Highway 1, Comeauville) (8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.). 
  • Thursday, July 18: ½ day afternoon at Mavillette Beach (first parking lot, 395 John Doucette Road, Mavillette) (12:00 p.m. to 3:30 p.m.). 

Week 4 – Community Week 

This week is all about giving back and learning about our community. We will be visited by first responders and have a community clean-up day. Campers will have a chance to showcase their community pride and voice their thoughts and opinions on what they would like to see in the future.  

  • Tuesday, July 23: ½ day afternoon at the new Villa Acadienne (12:00 p.m. to 3:30 p.m.). 
  • Wednesday, July 24: Full day at the Université Sainte-Anne yurts (8:30 a.m. - 3:30 p.m.)  
  • Thursday, July 25: ½ day morning at the Meteghan Lions Club (8:30 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.).  

Week 5 – Acadian Week 

Celebrate the rich Acadian culture with us this week! There will be traditional Acadian music, dance, and crafts. We will have a field trip to the Acadian Museum in Pubnico. A costume day where campers can dress in traditional Acadian attire and enjoy some Acadian music while preparing their Acadian-themed decorations for the Congrès mondial acadien. 

  • Tuesday, July 30: ½ day morning at the Université Sainte-Anne yurts (8:30 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.).  
  • Wednesday, July 31: Full day at the Musée des Acadiens des Pubnicos, drop-off and pickup at the Université Sainte-Anne yurts (8:30 a.m. - 3:30 p.m.) 
  • Friday, August 2: ½ day afternoon at the Université Sainte-Anne yurts (12:00 p.m. to 3:30 p.m.). 

Week 6 - Olympics Week 

Embrace your athletic side this week with our sports-themed activities. Campers will participate in various Olympic-style games and compete in friendly competitions. With a visit from a local athlete who will conduct a training session, to a variety of challenges that are sure to keep you moving! 

  • Tuesday, August 6: ½ day afternoon, drop-off and pick up at the Université Sainte-Anne yurts (12:00 p.m. to 3:30 p.m.).  
  • Wednesday, August 7: Full day, drop-off and pick up at the Université Sainte-Anne yurts (8:30 a.m. - 3:30 p.m.).  
  • Friday, August 9: ½ day morning at the Havelock Community Centre (8:30 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.).   

Week 7 - Outdoor Adventure Week 

Get ready for some outdoor fun! This week will include hiking, nature scavenger hunts, and outdoor survival skills. Campers will learn how to set up tents and enjoy a campfire with marshmallows.

  • Tuesday, August 20: ½ day afternoon at Smugglers Cove Provincial Park (12:00 – 3:30 p.m.).  
  • Wednesday, August 21: Full day at the Université Sainte-Anne yurts (8:30 a.m. - 3:30 p.m.).  
  • Thursday, August 22: ½ day morning at the Université Sainte-Anne yurts (8:30 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.).

Fee:
$45 per camper for a full week. No partial registration / payments (i.e. only registering and paying for a half day) are accepted.

Payment:
Full payment required after registration to confirm the child’s spot. 

Payment Process and Additional Instructions:
Before paying to enroll your child in the CJA day camp, please complete the registration form above. Spaces are limited, so make sure to register early! Once your registration form is complete, an employee from the Municipality of Clare will get in touch with you to proceed with your payment. Please note it may take 3-5 business days to respond to your request, but spots will be reserved based on the registration form submission time. Once your payment has been received, the Municipality will send you a confirmation email. The Municipality of Clare will contact you to discuss payment options after you complete your registration form. Payments with e-transfer, cash, cheque, debit cards and credit cards will be accepted. 

Refund Policy:
Full refund for cancellations made at least one week prior to the camp start date. No refunds within 7 days or for no-shows/early departures. 

Late Pickup Fees:
$20 for initial late pickup, increasing incrementally for further delays. For more information, please read through our pdfLate Pickup Policy.
