As per the Municipality’s Fire Prevention By-Law:
All fires requiring a permit must be set between 5 p.m. and midnight. In the event of a burning restriction, all burning permits will be invalid for that time period.

Permits can be obtained from the Fire Chief in your area at no cost.
The permit holder shall:

  • Monitor the fire at all times
  • Burn small piles
  • Extinguish the fire before leaving
  • Have on site suitable equipment to extinguish the fire
  • Create a perimeter around the fire to prevent injury to all individuals present

Supervised fire pits and small contained bonfires for family enjoyment do not require a permit under the Municipality’s Fire Prevention By-Law but may be banned by the Department of Lands and Forestry in the event of a burning restriction.

Penalties
Every person who fails to comply with this Fire Prevention By-Law is subject to a fine not to exceed Two Thousand Dollars ($2,000.00) or, in default of payment of the fine, imprisonment for a term not exceeding six (6) months.
