Under the direction of the Recreation Manager, the Summer Marketing Coordinator will take ownership of promoting the planned summer activities to our community. They will create engaging visuals and text that entice community members to participate in activities. They will be responsible for taking photos and videos of events, and leading creative ways to communicate and engage our community.
This position is designed for a creative, outgoing person with attention to detail and previous experience with social media management or marketing. They are excited to engage with the community and aren’t afraid to suggest new ideas. This person is reliable, ready to adapt and take on new challenges such as leading the establishment of a Recreation TikTok page.
Marketing & Digital Skills
- Content Creation: Design and preparation of print and digital medias to communicate programming with the community
- Social media management: scheduling, analytics and community engagement on Recreation Services social media platforms
- Basic Graphic Design: Using Canva and other design programs according to Marketing guidelines
- Storytelling: A capacity to highlight community impact, programs, and participant experiences.
- Event Promotion: Promote activities on social media, radio, in person, on the website, and more by acting as ambassador for recreation services in both oral and written formats.
- Photography & Videography: Collect appropriate images and videos at Clare Recreation events and activities to be used in future promotions.
- Approach assigned special projects with creativity, originality, and enthusiasm
- Use the recreation management and project management software according to the training provided.
Activity & Event Support
- Assist in the planning, execution, animation, and cleanup of activities and events.
- Support the marketing of programs through social media, partner relationships, community posters, and other platforms.
- Communicate with the public by phone, email, and social media about activities and events.
- Prepare activity materials, equipment, and supplies as directed
- Animate activities and support the execution of events with professionalism, enthusiasm, and creativity.
- Build relationships with community members at events, welcoming all residents no matter their race, gender, sexuality, ability, or income status.
- Process registrations for all recreation services when needed and manage registrant details and communication
- Maintain and manage all equipment within inventory
- Manage safekeeping of cash received, count and verify totals, and prepare receipts as needed.
Teamwork
- Hold yourself and coworkers accountable to fostering an environment of respect, equality, and openness in the office and at all events and activities.
- Participate in team building, weekly meetings, goal setting, personal development, and skills training provided
- Communicate effectively with teammates in person, through project management software, and in writing
- Collaborate with other community groups and organizations to deliver engaging, memorable, and important programming to residents
Requirements
- Be under the age of 30 at the time of hiring.
- Ability to work a variety of shift times and hours including evenings and weekends as required.
- Ability to work on July 1 (Canada Day), Aug 1, and August 15 (Acadian Day)
- Hold a valid Class 5 Driver's License and reliable access to a vehicle
- Bilingualism (English/French) required.
- Ability to lift 23 kg safely
- Be certified for First Aid, WHMIS, and Food Safety, or be willing to receive certification.
- Pass a vulnerable sector check
- Be a high school graduate or have completed your GED equivalent.
- Previous work experience required; experience in marketing, public relations, recreation, or community programming, but alternative experiences are encouraged to apply.
