The Municipal Council is seeking an individual from the Municipality of the District of Clare to serve on its Police Advisory Board. The Police Advisory Board is created under the authority of the Nova Scotia Police Act, and will also include three elected officials, two other members appointed by motion of Council, and a member appointed by the Minister of Justice.

The Police Advisory Board works in collaboration with the local RCMP detachment to:

  • advise Council on the enforcement of law and the prevention of crime in the Municipality;
  • determine priorities and objectives respecting police services in the community;
  • ensure programs and strategies are established to implement these priorities and objectives;
  • ensure that police services are delivered in a manner consistent with community values, needs and expectations;
  • act as a conduit between the community and the police department.

Letters of application will be received from residents of the Municipality by the undersigned until 3:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 1, 2021. Letters of application should include a brief biography of the individual and information on skills or assets that will be useful to the committee. An applicant must consent to criminal and background checks.
